Is my data really safe?

Your documents are processed on your NorthLock One in your office by default. All inference, indexing, and retrieval run locally on hardware you own. The NorthLock One sends no telemetry and never sends client documents, queries or answers anywhere. Its only outbound connections are checking for and downloading software updates, and optional web search if your firm turns it on. NorthLock keeps only what it needs to register your unit, renew your service plan and invoice you. The annual plan includes on-device health monitoring; health data stays on your NorthLock One. We never use your documents, queries, or outputs to train, improve, or fine-tune any AI model.

How is this different from a cloud AI like ChatGPT?

Two things: where the data lives, and what you can trust. Client documents never leave your office by default, and every answer comes with citations to your own documents so a lawyer can verify before relying on it. Cloud tools are built for general work; this one is set up for legal research.

What if the AI gets something wrong?

Every answer cites the specific documents and sections it drew from, so you check before you rely — the same way you would check any source. The AI is set up for legal research and updated through the annual service plan.

We don't have an IT department. Who keeps it running?

That is what the annual service plan is for: AI updates, security patches, monitoring, and verified local backups, invoiced to the firm once a year. One vendor, one contact — no per‑seat contracts. Firms with their own IT team get the same plan and can manage updates themselves.

What happens if the hardware fails?

Every NorthLock One has a one-year parts-and-labour warranty with depot swap: we ship you a replacement unit and you send back the faulty one. After year one, support continues under the annual service plan.

Can we return it?

Yes, within 30 days of delivery. See the returns section of our Terms of Sale for the restocking fee and how returned units are wiped.

How do we buy it?

You can order NorthLock One online and pay by invoice, or contact us first. We confirm the order, invoice by purchase order, and schedule delivery. Hardware and software are a one-time purchase; the annual service plan keeps it current.

How hard is it to set up?

Your NorthLock One arrives fully configured, with all the software already installed on the drive. Plug it in, turn it on, and open a link from any computer on your office network. There is no on-site installation, and very little for anyone to manage. If you have IT staff or an IT provider, we can work with them too.

How do updates reach the NorthLock One?

You can download the update on any computer that has internet access and install it from there over your office network — or from a USB stick if you prefer. Nothing on the NorthLock One changes until you install an update.

Does NorthLock One work for larger firms?

NorthLock One is designed for small firms, and one unit suits a small team. Larger firms and firms with several offices can talk to us about a setup with more than one unit, scoped to your matters and document volume. Contact us at [email protected] or order online.

Can in-house legal teams or notaries use it?
