NorthLock One documentation

Everything you need to set up, run, and maintain your NorthLock One appliance.

Getting started

1. Connect the appliance to power and to your firm network.
2. Open the appliance address shown on the setup card in your browser.
3. Create the first administrator account. The first account registered becomes the admin.
4. Add your model provider if you are not using the bundled local model.

Keeping the appliance private

The NorthLock One does not need an internet connection to run. Inference, indexing, and retrieval all happen on hardware you own.

• Updates are downloaded elsewhere and copied to the appliance over your LAN or USB.
• You can disable outbound network access entirely for an air-gapped deployment.

Users and permissions

Administrators invite users and assign access to matters, document sets, and agents. Permissions follow the source system when connector sync is enabled.

Backups and retention

Configure retention and legal hold per matter. Retention purge and legal hold are enforced by the appliance, not by the client.
